There are two types of character photos at Walt Disney World, Photopass photos taken by Disney photographers while you are meeting and posing with the characters and candid shots you take yourself. I am a HUGE fan of Photopass photos and have some great ones. Part of my fandom comes from the fact that I am not a very good photographer and take all my photos with m iPhone 6 BUT...... All that being said I highly suggest you be ready to snap a photo (even with our phone) any time you see a character. Some characters have set meet and greets with set schedules where you can line up to get your picture taken, others are just wondering around the park and you are likely to just bump into one.
